After a three-week hiaitus from league matches, the Liga Bet season resumed for the second half, which meant we faced off against Elitzur Tel Aviv at home, having beaten them away in the opening game of the campaign.
The roster looked a lot different from that first meeting with a number of new faces joining the club since the beginning of the season and there was even a debutant, Amishav Weinstein, in action for this match.
Yet, despite the changed look the outcome was the same as we beat Elitzur to complete the double over them and move to an 7-4 record for the season, which puts us in 4th place.
It was a slow start for us in this game, with Elitzur ahead in the first quarter as we struggled to find our rythym. A head injury to star forward Jake Pemberton, who later went to hispital to get stitches, didn't help the cause.
However, an inspired second quarter put us in the lead as the substitutes proved their worth with the fresh legs making all the difference. 11 players played at least ten minutes in the win, with 14 getting time on the court, emphasising what a team performance it was.
Sam Roche led our scoring with 19 points, while Barak Swarttz (now two points away from being the club's leading points scorer) and Nyv Segev also hit double figures. There was a halftime buzzer beater from captain Daniel Roche, while Yona Kadosh made a clutch three with his first touch of the basketball.
We host Or Yehuda on Wednesday looking for revenge for the defeat we suffered at their hands in the first meeting.
