The second half of the 2022/23 Liga Gimmel season began with a home fixture to Elitzur Yafo, whom we had beaten 6-0 away from home in the season opener back in September.

However, it was not as simple as last time around, as we carried on the underwhelming performance from the weekend win over Pardes Katz into this game too.

Thomy Alfie returned to the starting lineup after recovering from injury, but the rest of the XI remained from those which started on the weekend, with a number of players still on the sidelines nursing knocks.

The first half was somewhat shaky and although Leo Gewertz didn't have any major saves to make, Elitzur looked threatening and took advantage of our sloppy play and tired performance.

Yet, we went into the break 1-0 up thanks to a sublime free-kick from Ron Sharifi, after Ilan Flax was brought down just outside the box. Ron's shot blasted against the bar before bouncing over the line and out again.

The second half was marginally better and the introduction of Samuel Hazins and Vlad Kart at half-time made the difference as they combined for the all-important second goal, Vlad scoring his 25th of the season!

On Friday, we take on Ruach Tel Aviv away from home in what will be a tough game.
