In our 7 years as a Liga Gimmel side, Shikun Vatikim Ramat Gan is the only team we have failed to beat, always coming up short against our old rivals and lacking that killer instinct against this experienced side.

However, this season we seem to be a different side with a squad worthy of competing for the championship and despite a number of absentees, the team were resilient and were ready for the challenge.

Playing at the Ramat Gan Safari, our opponents threatened early with some long balls but we handled them well and truth be told, Leo Gewertz was untroubled for the majority of the game.

On the other side, our potent attack was again firing on all cylinders, emphasising why we are the second top scorers in the league this season. After he was fouled in the box, Vlad Kart stepped up to convert the resulting penalty and put us in the lead.

Just a few minutes later a good ball from Ilan Flax saw Vlad challenge the keeper who spilled the ball, allowing for Alon Zurita to score into the empty net and extend our lead to two goals.

In the second half, we continued to exert our dominance after an inspiring half time team talk from Borja Lema and within a few minutes we had scored again, this time through Ron Sharifi.

Three goals then turned into four, with Vlad scoring his 2nd of the game and his 24th in total for the season. His incredible form this season continues as he tops the league for the race for the Golden Boot.

Tom Printac also got in the scoring act, getting his first goal for the club in Liga Gimmel in what was arguably the best goal of the night as part of a beautiful team move.

Shikun's frustration ended with a sending off after we had scored our 5th, a culmination of the fouls they committed throughout the match. Our winless run against our rivals is finally over.

We play bottom of the league Pardes Katz at home on Friday, which is the final game of the first round of matches this season.
