We started the 2022/23 Liga Gimmel campaign in perfect fashion, bouncing back from last week's defeat in the National Cup, to win emphatically away from home in the opening game of the season.

The game represented the first league for our new Head Coach, Borja Lema, who alongside Sebastian Israel and Eli Falkon, began our 7th season in Liga Gimmel - the 5th tier of Israeli football.

There were Inter Aliyah league debuts for Thomy Alfie, Alon Zurita and Samuel Hazins, all of whom were selected for the starting XI, which saw Gaston Hilman captain the team.

Early on, the Peruvian youngster Alon Zurita put us into the lead against local rivals Elitzur Yafo, scoring his second goal in as many games after he also registered in last week's cup game.

Alon's roommate and another debutant, Samuel Hazins, grabbed a goal on his first league game for the club. The Ecuadorian was the quickest to react after the Elitzur goalkeeper fumbled Evgeny Kart's strike.

It stayed 2-0 until the half time break, with our side totally dominating the contest and should have really gone into the second half more than just two goals ahead. Meanwhile, the defence was sturdy and Leo Gewertz was on hand if ever Yafo did get a shot away.

In the second half, we were more clinical with the many chances we created as our dominance over our tiring opponents began to show. Gaston Fratesi got his second assist of the afternoon, feeding last season's top scorer Vlad Kart to make it 3-0.

Borja made a few changes in the second period, including a full debut for another new signing, Roni Sirosky who came into the central midfield. Another debutant, Sasha Machta, was to have a big influence on the rest of the game.

The Spanish teenager assisted two further goals, to regular Inter goalscorers, Ron Sharifi and Vlad Kart, before stealing the ball himself and dribbling past the goalkeeper to score his first goal for the team.

After a challenging pre-season, it was the perfect way to start the league campaign ahead of a tough test against Ruach Tel Aviv next week, who played in Liga Bet last season.
