Playing against one of the best teams in the league everyone left the field today feeling disappointed that we hadn’t got the victory. In the first 5 minutes of the game, we came out brilliantly and had 3 big chances that we missed. They dominated possession for most of the half after that but we defended well and they hardly had a shot on our goal.

At half time we spoke about keeping the ball on the floor and being aggressive in our play. We started well and Ilan Flax drove into the box was taken down and we won a penalty, which Sam Sank smashed into the net. Finally, our first penalty scored in 4 attempts. However, our lead didn’t last long as a corner into the box was unlucky to hit David Hovav’s hand; there wasn’t anything he could do about it at a short distance and they scored the penalty.

5 minutes later a mix up at the back between Sam and David Benarroch in goal led to David fouling their player in the box and giving away a penalty. However, a fingertip save onto the bar kept it level.

The game was quite even but we had the better chances and just couldn’t find the net. With 6 minutes left they handballed it in the box and we had a penalty. However, Sam hit the crossbar and it became 4/5 penalties missed this season. Overall we should have won the game with the number of chances we had and it is frustrating.

We are, however, only 6 games in, a draw against one of the top sides isn’t a bad result. Teams are finding it very difficult to score against us, we’ve only lost once and conceded 5 goals, the least in the entire league; 2 penalties, 1 free-kick, 1 corner and just 1 from normal open play.

A lot of the harder games were thrown at us first, the coming up fixtures are all winnable and there are 16 league games left, we are in a good position with plenty of time to climb the table

Man of the Match: Ilan Flax 🔥
