An awful weekend of football for Inter Aliyah was unfortunately capped off with a defeat for our B team in the IFLI Division 2. Facing up against Combo FC, a team of Peruvians sitting just below us in the table, Matt Keston's men expected to leave the Beit Dani pitch with at least a point to show for their troubles.

Keston opted for a 5-3-2 formation to deal with Combo's big frontline but the change backfired and the confusion was felt defensively as we conceded twice in the opening period.

As seems to be the trend for Inter B of late, the deadly combination of individual errors at the back and a host of missed chances was costly we struggled to test their keeper despite often finding oursleves in good positions.

To make matters worse, another mistake at the back led to Combo's 3rd before half time, with the returning Daniel Roche unable to stop the accurate finish. At half time, Keston did his best to rally the men and, like hte previous two weeks, it seemed to do the trick.

Zack Shooter, who was lively all game despite missing his chances, was fouled in the box and the referee pointed to the spot. Argentinian-Canadian midfielder Ezequiel Lubocki converted the spot kick with ease and it seemed as though momentum was back in our favour, especially considering that Combo went down to 10 men with just 20 minutes left.

Unfortunately, Zeqi's penalty was our only goal of the night and we're left to lament what could have been as the season reaches is later stages.
